A few have commented on my lack of running updates. Well, last week was kind of a slacker week for running. It was feeling unusually difficult and tiring and I skipped a run and wussed out on the full time another. On Sunday (after procrastinating all day) I decided to go back in the Couch to 5K program and do an older run based on distance, which went well, and involved sprinting up the Lake Park Bistro stairs at the end of the second interval!

And then this week I started doing a few of the 20 min fitness solution workouts, which do incorporate a run each weekend. But they also incoporate more pushups and pullups and squats! Yesterday's workout was overhead bodyweight squats and sprints (well, at the end they were more of fast jog than a sprint). I used my old bokken for the overhead squats so got to walk down the street in exercise gear carrying a wooden sword. Uwe came out to keep me company and play with his camera. Now my thighs don't want to let me go down stairs.

ETA: I can hardly walk...

I moved up to the 90s run, 2m walk. It went pretty well. I had to gear down to a pretty minimalist jog for the last leg, but I guess it's not as painfully slow as I thought - I was still passing the people strolling along. And I felt really good afterwards.

Earlier today I went shopping with Uwe's mom for a much needed upgrade to my sports bra. I ended up picking up some knee-length running tights with a little key pocket and a sports tank as well. Sporty! I look like I do this regularly or something.

I figured after a week of regular running it was worth investing in some proper clothes - my old cotton sports bra is fine for weight lifting but, even with my modest endowments, was *not* cutting it with the jogging. And my comfy yoga pants go all flappy around my ankles, and get really hot on warm days. I could have just used my climbing shorts. But they lack the key pocket! Key pocket!

This brings my running investment up to $15 for shoes and $60 for clothes, plus borrowing Uwe's watch.

I also got a door pull up bar, and we put it up in the kitchen doorway. I feared that I would only be able to hang straps from it and do bodyweight rows, but I can jump up and do negatives!

I can do pull up negatives!

Soon I will be a ninja.
